RACING THROUGH MAY-CEMBER

MAY, 2024

Have you heard that May is the new December?! There were almost as many, if not more, events taking place this month than in December. Golf outings have started, schools are wrapping up, the weather is turning nicer, and for our hometown of Indianapolis, the sound of speed was common with visits to the track. And although the weather is always a big “if” factor, over 300,000 spectators waited out some epic rain to experience an epic Indy 500 win! Another win…our Senior Project Manager, Tim Dixon, got married to his new wife Charity in Disney World this month!

We attended the ICSC (International Council of Shopping Center) convention in Las Vegas, where there were 25,000 retailers, brokers, developers, designers and consultants to the shopping center and retail industries. Our takeaway of the scene was one of pre-pandemic energy, continued growth, and retailers adjusting to get deals done and growing!

All of our offices have taken time this month to breath and enjoy each other at fun venues. Our team genuinely cares about each other, and we love to spend time together when our schedules allow, as our workload has continued to stay strong. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it’s important to take time to renew and slow down.  Capitol has been making concerted efforts to focus on improving our health, thanks to our Wellness Champion, Sara Clark!

We also welcomed an intern from Purdue’s BCM program this month. Sophie was referred to us by one of our subcontractor partners, and we find that referrals for both associates and new work continue to be the best of connections.  If you know of anyone interested in a construction career, we would be honored for your referral.

Hoping your summers get off to a great start! If you would like to connect with our team, please reach out to Lauren Hughes at lhughes@capitolconstruct.com.

30 SOUTH LOBBY RENOVATION- Indianapolis, IN- 9,450 Sq. Ft.

Downtown Indy was bustling this month for the much-anticipated ribbon-cutting of the new 30 South Starbucks. To say it opened with quite the crowd is an understatement! It was also exciting to reveal the remodel of several lobbies the downtown office building, owned by Kite Realty, of which the cafe adjoins. RATIO Architects chose some amazing upgrades for the lobbies of three floors of the Class A space!

ASSOCIA- Brentwood, TN- 5,100 Sq. Ft.

Tenant improvement has been an area of expertise for our team since Capitol’s inception. While our Nashville office has not been around as long as Indy, they are quickly making a name for themselves in their local TI market. HOA management company Associa worked with Capitol of TN to buildout a new 5,100 SF office in the Highwoods Properties Winners Circle building in Brentwood. Nashville-based Daniels Chandler Architects designed the new space.

H & H FIELDHOUSE- Fishers, IN- 29,600 Sq. Ft.

A group of passionate basketball entrepreneurs took advantage of a vacant former Marsh Grocery box in a great location in South Fishers.  H & H Fieldhouse opened this past weekend in nearly 30,000 square feet, where they are offering a variety of youth basketball leagues and training for all ages. There is a huge demand for basketball facilities in Hoosier country, and H & H fulfills a growing need in an atmosphere that is unique and energetic, featuring colorful murals and different court sizes.  The community is very excited about the offerings of the professionals at H & H!
