All eyes on Indy!

May, 2022

Today kicks off the greatest weekend in Indy, where all eyes are on our home state for the greatest spectacle in racing, the Indy 500!  Half of our City play hooky today, so you never know who you’ll run into at the track.  Not only is there a rich history with the momentous race, but the speeds at which the cars operate are always astonishing.  Hoosiers are proud of their hospitality, and for those fortunate to experience this weekend in person, you will know why we’re Indy-proud!

Just as the cars are speeding by, so is 2022.  Although people might be wondering about the future of restaurants post-pandemic, all of our featured projects this month are from what we consider the “restaurant category”!  We think that’s saying something.

As we embark on a long holiday weekend, may you all stay safe and honor those who’ve died for our freedoms on Memorial Day!  God bless America!

STARBUCKS- Indianapolis, IN- 2,665 Sq. Ft.

The “Taj Mahal of coffee shops” (tagline credit DKGR’s Brian Schubert) opened this month! The new downtown Indy Starbucks that relocated from 16th and Capitol is officially serving up your favorite beverages with a double drive thru at its new 12th & Capitol home. The 2,665 square foot café opening was highly anticipated by downtown commuters and the dense medical community in the area, and our Facebook post with the news became our most viral post ever!! We have fallen in love with the variety of building materials on this stunner, including terracotta, breezeway block and venetian plaster, designed by locally based DKGR– HOME RUN!

CITY BBQ- Indianapolis, IN- 3,500 Sq. Ft.

It’s opening day for Indy’s new City BBQ, the first in the state with a drive-thru! The growing food brand known for it’s quality smoked meats and delicious sides rescued a former Burger King in the busy Castleton market and is now the operator of the 3,500 square foot restaurant. OH-based Design Collective created an amazing transformation. Great job by our team on this challenging project that is now crankin’ business!

CAVA- Nashville, TN- 2,500 Sq. Ft.

Growing Mediteranean flared fast-casual chain Cava continues to grow around the country. Our Chicago team recently completed our first project with the brand on the Vanderbilt campus. The 2,500 square foot restaurant is now open for dine-in or carry-out. This restaurant was designed by OH-based Red Architecture + Planning.

PAUL’S DONUT & COFFEE- Westfield, IN- 1,500 Sq. Ft.

Coming this summer to Westfield, Paul’s Donuts & Coffee will be serving up fresh coffee drinks and Paul’s special recipe donuts for takeout or drive-thru service! Noblesville-based Peterson Architecture was on point making Paul’s space welcoming as he prepares to open his dream business!

NAANSENSE- Chicago, IL- 1,500 Sq. Ft.

Indian street food concept Naansense is now operating their second location in the Chicago Loop.  Our team brought two friends’ dreams involving a love of cooking and Indian culture to life.  Locally-based MAI Architects helped with the design of the new 1,500 square foot space in the heart of the City!

COMING SOON- Westfield, Indianapolis & Ft. Wayne, IN

We have several exciting projects under construction that we’d like to offer sneak peaks into!  After a post-pandemic closure, the Rail Westfield is returning to the community in a retail center with ample parking and a new menu.  Non-profit Project Lead the Way is now a building owner and their new HQ is underway in a former sorority HQ in Indy’s Castle Creek. Lastly, we have a Starbucks under roof in the Ft. Wayne market at US 27 & Tillman for developer The Elia Group.
