Where do we go from here?

March, 2021

Here we are…one year later!  We’ve surpassed the anniversary of our world coming to a halt.  So, where do we go from here? As vaccinations and herd immunity are on the rise, restaurants, gyms, and offices are reopening and are slowly getting back to pre-pandemic occupancies.  Some businesses are still completely remote, trying to assess what their future office environment will resemble.  Now what?

We have been getting a lot of questions about rising construction costs and availability of products.  There are still some long lead times with steel, lighting, and appliances, Although some materials have increased in pricing, Capitol has been able to keep our labor rates at the same level as previous years to this point.  We have encouraged earlier collaboration between designers and our team, to help identify longer lead-time items and avoid project delays.

In other news, our home City of Indianapolis has shined this month, hosting the NCAA tournament and the excitement that it brings.  In addition to beautiful weather, our Hoosier hospitality has been on overload, and in particular, the downtown Indy establishments are on point hosting visitors from around the country.  We love to see the resurgence of activity in our great City!

Our team has wrapped up both ground-up projects and interior remodel projects around the country this month.  More photos can be viewed on our facebook page. As always, if you’re interested in talking further about our work or a potential project, please contact Lauren Kriner!

BRAUNABILITY R & D- Carmel, IN- 20,000 Sq. Ft.

Talk about a company making a difference! Our friends at Braunability are now utilizing their new R & D building in Carmel, IN to build more wheelchair-accessible vehicles and affordable mobility solutions. It was a pleasure to build their new HQ office last year, in conjunction with developer Atapco, and we were honored to partner with both parties again to construct this R & D building from the ground up, right on Carmel Drive. Indianapolis-based CSO Architects designed the 20,000 square foot warehouse to compliment the adjacent office building. Thank you, Braunability, for making a difference in lives, as well as bringing more job opportunities to the City!

STARBUCKS- Plainfield, IN- 2,150 Sq. Ft.

The town of Plainfield will welcome another Starbucks store to their town next week, as the 2,150 square foot cafe, just north of I70 along SR 267, is now complete! We worked with our long-time client, Midland Atlantic, and their Development & Construction Manager Morgan Hayes on the ground up shell, and the team at Starbucks on the interior. Fishers-based Leech Hensley Architects was on point for the exterior design and the interior is credited to Interbrand Design Forum. These projects go so smoothly with a dream team in place!

The 1,500 square foot location, designed by Chicago-based Barker Nestor, is now making magic behind the scenes for carryout, delivery and curbside pick-up. Lou’s has come into our market with quite a following, which is growing by the day. We are excited to announce that we have begun construction on their third location, which will be a full-service restaurant in the heart of Broad Ripple Village, just north of the beautiful canal!
