Off to the Races

January, 2023

Welcome to a new year!  There are a lot of predictions surrounding uncertainties in the economy and how it will affect our industries.  Our team is focusing on what we can control, trying to anticipate how changes are affecting our processes, and continuing to communicate to our clients in advance of any challenges.

After what was another fruitful year, 2023 has not yet shown us any new trends in activity.  Several projects that had been delayed for a variety of reasons have broken ground, even during the cold of the winter months.  We are seeing bright spots across the verticals in which we build.  Our team will also celebrate our 25th year in business this August.  We are grateful for the relationships that have gotten us to this exciting milestone!

We are hopeful that your 2023 is off to a great start. If there is anything we can do for you, please contact Lauren Hughes.

KATZ SAPPER MILLER- Indianapolis, IN- 12,000 Sq. Ft.

Having hit 500 associates, CPA and Advisory firm Katz, Sapper & Miller had a need for more space in their Parkwood office. We recently collaborated with JLL’s PDS team, DELV Design and the KSM team to add nearly 12,000 square feet to their northside Indy presence. This team continues to grow, as they build a work hard/play hard culture. New furniture was provided by local Steelcase dealer, Business Furniture.  They’re ready for another busy season!

STARBUCKS- Indianapolis, IN- 2,200 Sq. Ft.

After much anticipation, the new Starbucks on Indy’s North side at 93rd and Michigan Road opened this month. The 2,200 square foot store, developed by Indy-based KennMar, has a prime location with a drive-thru and was designed by OH-based Design Forum. Starbucks continues their streak of growing in both new stores and remodeling existing cafes.

DIRECT CONNECT LOGISTIX- Indianapolis, IN- 52,000 Sq. Ft.

A new year means a new headquarters for nationwide transportation carrier, Direct Connect Logistics, who took over the entire 3rd floor of the former Nordstrom space in downtown Indy’s Circle Centre Mall! While Gannett was an interim tenant, the growing logistics company will now occupy the 52,000 square foot space that our team has transformed, created barriers and security between the floors that were built for multi-floor shopping. The team at Schott Design helped transform the space to incorporate some fun cultural elements, as well as a variety of workspaces in which Knoll dealer RJE provided. A perfect way to start the new year!

LOVESAC- Windsor, CT- 1,400 Sq. Ft.

Consumers continue to invest in their homes, which is reflective of the continued growth that furniture retailer Lovesac is experiencing around the country.  Our Chicago team has now built nine stores for their team and has two more under construction.  This 1,400 square foot location is now open in The Promenade Shops and was designed by NJ-based WJCA.

LIDS- Indianapolis, IN- 6,500 Sq. Ft.

Our second expansion for the growing Indy-based Lids is now complete at their headquarters. In addition to their initial buildout, we’ve helped the leading athletic gear retailer expand their office twice. This latest project added 6,500 square feet, and we partnered creatively with Schott Design, who also provided photography. We have loved growing with them!

CRUMBL COOKIES- Glen Ellyn, IL- 2,600 Sq. Ft.

There’s not much sweeter than adding a little Crumbl Cookies into your treat splurge! Although who are we kidding, nothing about Crumbl is little🙃 Our Chicago team worked quickly for local franchisees Brian & Heather Wardrell to open their second bakery in the suburb of Glen Ellyn. UT-based JZW Architects designed the 2,600 square foot space, that will be opening to all those with a sweet tooth THIS week!

WE PLAY ABA & LANGUAGE ACADEMY- Westfield, IN- 7,200 Sq. Ft.

Families needing autism services have a new option for care in Westfield, IN, just south of Grand Park- We Play ABA and Language Academy. Licensed instructors have the capacity to care for nearly 40 children, ages 2-8, in a play-based learning environment Monday through Friday and supported by insurance. There are “classrooms” of all types, and the children’s learning style dictates the methods used. Our team converted the 7,200 SF building to accommodate the new school’s needs.
