April, 2024

Can you believe that eclipse we experienced this month? Talk about a showstopper! Speaking of big things, let’s shine a spotlight on some of the happenings in our world of commercial construction.

First off, a huge shoutout to the Starbucks crew for knocking it out of the park with several Starbucks projects this month. These projects are not easy to pull off with such finesse, and we are grateful for their continued dedication to this growing client. Our Chicago & Nashville offices also brought in and completed projects for some cool new clients!

We also need to give a big round of applause to our amazing administrative professionals! They’re the glue that holds everything together, keeping us organized and on track day in and day out. We couldn’t do it without them!

But wait, there’s more good news! Have you heard about Caitlin Clark? That’s right, the hero of the women’s NCAA basketball world made the Hoosiers ecstatic by signing with our Indiana Fever. We cannot wait for the WNBA season to start and have more eyes shining on Indy!

Lastly, we are looking forward to experiencing the world’s largest retail gathering at the Las Vegas ICSC in just a few weeks. If you will be there and would like to connect with our team, please reach out to Lauren Hughes at lhughes@capitolconstruct.com.

OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE- Westminster, MD- 5,000 Sq. Ft.

Aren’t bloomin’ onions always on the cravings list?! Our Chicago team just wrapped up their second project for Bloomin’ Brands’ Outback Steakhouse concept in the city of Westminster, Maryland. The 5,000 square foot restaurant was a new ground-up building, designed by GPD Group, and now has a few months to hire their service team and do training before their June opening!

NEW YORK LIFE- Indianapolis, IN- 6,000 Sq. Ft.

While this space was completed a few months ago, the finishing touches have just been added to the New York Life space in Parkwood on Indy’s NW side. The insurance and annuities firm relocated from a tired space in Carmel, to an office park with more amenities, as well as getting new furniture from OfficeWorks in the more functional 6,000 square foot space. The Jones Lang LaSalle PDS team oversaw the construction process, and Parallel Design Group worked hand in hand with the tenant to turn their new space into an exciting change for both the NYL team and their clients!

STARBUCKS- Brownsburg, IN- 2,225 Sq. Ft.

There’s nothing better than starting off a Monday morning with a stop at the new area Starbucks.  The City of Brownsburg opened one this month just off I-74 & Ronald Reagan Parkway with a slew of activity. Our team recently completed the 2,225 SF cafe with drive-thru that was designed by WD Partners. This store fills in a gap for interstate and local traffic that will be a home run.  Our team completed four Starbucks projects around the Midwest this month, and we have several cafes under construction and starting soon!

BARRE 3- Nashville, TN- 1,800 Sq. Ft.

Boutique fitness concepts continue to expand, as clients look for a workout that provides community and wellness combined! Our Nashville team just completed a new barre3 studio in the hip “Gulch” area of the City, now offering a variety of classes in studio and online. The 1,800 square foot space was designed by Tx-based Apogee Architectural Partners.

It’s no joke, Total Solar Eclipse 2024 occurred this month, and our friends at Hamilton County Tourism were very busy preparing for residents and visitors to experience the phenomena in our area. Nestled in a historic building along the City of Carmel’s Main Street, the economic development and industry agency for all things Hamilton County was in need of a remodel and expansion of the space they’ve occupied for nearly 20 years. Our team worked with Relocation Strategies and Odle McGuire Shook to refresh the 5,000 SF/3-story space with flexible work spaces and beautiful new finishes that make the environment more welcoming for both the agency’s team and visitors alike!

VCA ANIMAL HOSPITAL- Indianapolis, IN- 3,600 Sq. Ft.

There is no doubt that pet owners are making the health and hygiene of their furry friends a priority, which is evidenced by another new VCA Animal Hospital opening on Indy’s NW side.  Both our Indy and Chicago offices have done many projects for the growing vet care provider around the country, and this 3,600 square foot clinic was completed by our Chicago team.  Animal care experts MD Architects designed the new clinic which reflects VCA’s updated branding.
